Art lovers are in for a treat this autumn, with Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) presenting two standout exhibitions, Badimia on Country and Seven Forms (Geraldton ’26).
Badimia on Country features work by artists from the Wirnda Barna Art Centre in Mount Magnet, sharing stories of relationship to Country, history and kinship that demonstrate the enduring strength and creativity of Badimia people.
Also exhibiting is Seven Forms (Geraldton ’26), which presents new work by Western Australian artists Susanna Castleden, Monika Lukowska-Appel, Melanie McKee, Alana McVeigh, Layli Rakhsha, Sarah Robinson and Sue Starcken. The artists have developed works inspired by local sites, exploring how people use natural elements such as water, wind and sunlight, and what that means for the Midwest as the climate continues to change.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said both exhibitions offer meaningful perspectives for the whole community.
“Our Gallery is uniquely placed to present stories and perspectives from our region.”
“This display brings together living Aboriginal culture and contemporary art that responds to our surroundings,” he said.
“I encourage everyone to see and experience these exhibitions firsthand and connect with the stories they share.”
Both exhibitions will be on display from Saturday 18 April to Sunday 21 June 2026.
Members of the community are invited to attend the opening night event at the GRAG between 6-8 PM on Friday 17 April. Registration for the opening event required, with tickets available for free via Humanitix.
Aligned with the Connected theme of the City of Greater Geraldton Strategic Community Plan 2025–2035, the exhibitions are proudly supported by the Western Australian Government through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, in partnership with Lotterywest.
