Community Nursery

Summer 2018 has been a fabulous growing season at The City's Community Nursery located at 31 Adelaide Street in Waggrakine.

The nursery focuses on producing a wide range of local provenance native plants for revegetation of the natural bushland environment and all seedlings are grown by an enthusiastic group of volunteers who have grown a total of 25,000 plants this season. With the winter rains, we're now moving into planting out our seedlings into the natural environment including the Greenough River, Chapman River and Ellendale Pool this year.  Any left over plants will be offered to the Community at the Annual Community Nursery Sale.  Thousands of beautiful, healthy, local native plants will be available on the day.  Be sure to wear enclosed shoes and come down to join in the fun.

Community Nursery Sale Coming Soon

Our growing team of volunteers are involved in all aspects of growing native plant seedlings. New volunteers are always welcome to join in the fun with no previous experience necessary just a willingness to learn.  Come and join us at our Community Nursery Open Day Wednesday 24th October for more information and to meet the team.

If you would like to learn more about the Community Nursery or become a volunteer at the nursery, please contact the City's Infrastructure Services team via email the City or call 9956 6600.
