Temporary closure of Aquarena

The City of Greater Geraldton wishes to advise that the Geraldton Aquarena including the Café will be temporarily closed to the public from Monday 16 March to approximately Tuesday 7 April 2026.

The closure will enable the City to begin the scheduled refurbishment works on the building’s mechanical ventilation system which has reached its end of life.

Although the outdoor pool was planned to be available to the community during the refurbishment, an unexpected mechanical fault in the pool’s pipeline system has resulted in the temporary closure of the outdoor pool.

Repairs to the outdoor pool are currently underway and once they have been finalised it will be refilled, cleaned and recommissioned as part of public health requirements before reopening to the community in early April.

The City acknowledges the importance of the Aquarena and appreciates the community’s patience while these essential works are carried out.

The community will be notified when the outdoor pool is ready to reopen.

These works reflect the City’s commitment to investing in recreation infrastructure to support current and future needs.
