Making new friends and having a good time will be high on the agenda when Geraldton’s newest club kicks off from this Wednesday.
The All Ability Social Club is for people aged 16 and over, and will provide free activities as well as social engagement in a safe and welcoming environment.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn was thrilled to see such an event take place.
“The All Ability Social Club started this Wednesday 26 July and will run for the rest of 2023,” he said.
“The first get-together was a Swap Me Open Day where attendees are welcome to bring along books, clothes, plants or anything else to trade with participants.
“But if just hanging out is more your thing, you are more than welcome to come along, too!”
The All Ability Social Club will take place every Wednesday from 3.30pm until 4.30pm in the Lower Hall of the QEII Seniors & Community Centre.
There will be different inclusive activities on offer each week, from skincare workshops and gentle pilates sessions, to boardgames and bring and share afternoons.
“The Social Club came to life after conversations with disability agencies, support workers and members of the community,” Mayor Van Styn added.
“We’re so glad to be able to bring this vision to life and provide a safe and supportive environment to foster life-long friendships.
“I highly encourage those who are interested to come on down and give it a try.”
