The City has responded to strong community interest to make the place we call home an even better place to live by expanding Everlasting Partnership program opportunities.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the program, which was launched in 2014 to make it easier for business and industry to partner with the City to support events or projects, has evolved to include much more.
“Our very first Everlasting Partners were WA Country Builders which saw the replacement of the toilet blocks at Back Beach and Glendinning Park as their ‘Brick Story’ project and Variety WA Mid West who sponsored the wheelchair carousel and nest swings in the Youth Precinct on the Foreshore,” he said.
“Since then a wide range of local organisations, businesses and industry have partnered with the City to fund events such as Australia Day and the WOW Fest or programs such Films on the Foreshore, the Mid West Art Prize and Big Sky Readers and Writers Festival.
“More recently though, we’ve seen a real increase in not-for-profit organisations interested in supporting environmental projects such as the Chapman River Regional Park Biodiversity Survey and community groups wanting to enhance and look after public open spaces.”
The Everlasting Partnership program aims to develop meaningful relationships with partners through the sponsorship of City initiatives that provide long-term benefits to the community.
“Our community-wide partnerships are delivering long term solutions to local issues and are helping build a cohesive society,” Mayor Van Styn said.
“We are finding synergies and creating opportunities for businesses and organisations who want to give back to our community by delivering meaningful programs and exciting projects.”
