Fostering inclusion, strengthening connections and enhancing support for people with disabilities is the focus for the upcoming Geraldton Disability Expo.
With a range of agencies set to attend, the event will showcase organisations, programs and facilities to connect the community with local support services.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the event will link people to services they may not have known were available and provide a great networking opportunity.
“Access and inclusion has been a top priority for Council for some time and we are committed to improving access to information, providing high quality services and facilities, as well as delivering programs and events,” he said.
“The Expo is a wonderful opportunity for individuals, families, carers, and service providers to come together to share knowledge and connect with one another.
“Everyone is welcome and I encourage our community to come along and support this initiative.”
Keynote speakers will share personal experiences and shine a light on upcoming programs and insights into inclusive practices.
The Geraldton Disability Expo will be held on Thursday 17 July from 9am-12pm at the QEII Seniors and Community Centre Lower Hall.
Admission is free and morning tea is included.
The event falls under the Community pillar of the City’s Strategic Community Plan and reflects the organisation’s commitment to connection and inclusion.
Council reaffirmed its dedication to a community without barriers last year after endorsing the City’s Access and Inclusion Plan 2024 – 2029.
The Plan outlines the organisation is working towards everyone having equal access to City facilities, services, programs and events.
Disability service providers who are interested in being part of the Geraldton Disability Expo are encouraged to contact the City by emailing yeniferc@cgg.wa.gov.au.
