The City of Greater Geraldton is calling for community members, historians and innovative thinkers to attend an upcoming information session and workshop.

Participants, with the help of Creative Producer Annette Carmichael, will explore the potential to commission a new theatre production focussed on Geraldton.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn urged community members to get involved.

“We are looking for writers, visual artists, choreographers and people who love Geraldton to join us for a morning of conversation and practical exercises,” he said.

“These ideas will help steer the development and production of a new theatre work, which is focussed on our wonderful regional city.

“We want to hear your personal stories and experiences in Geraldton – how you feel when you drive back into town after a weekend away, when you smell the salty air, when you feel the wind against your face and the little qualities that make it special to you.”

The information session and workshop will take place on Saturday 25 November from 9.30am to 12pm at the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre. It will be an energetic morning of conversation and practical exercises to generate ideas for this new piece of professional theatre.

Australian Dance Artist and Creative Producer Annette Carmichael will be there to facilitate the event.

Ms Carmichael specialises in cultural development and community engagement and has created multi-art performance works around Australia.
