A stunning photographic exhibition celebrating ‘Best Moments on Country’ opens this week as part of National Reconciliation Week.
40 local photographers have made it to the next round of the Best Moments on Country photography exhibition and will have their entries featured in the vibrant display at the Museum of Geraldton.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune congratulated those who submitted works.
“This photographic display is a fantastic depiction of our local culture through the lens of our community members,” he said.
“We received nearly 100 submissions which celebrate the uniqueness of our land and people, and it’s great to see the creativity of our photographers shine through.
“Reconciliation is extremely important and we’re proud to welcome this event as part of National Reconciliation Week.”
The Best Moments on Country exhibition opens on Friday 9 May at the Museum of Geraldton and will be on display until Monday 9 June.
National Reconciliation Week is commemorated from 27 May - 3 June, with this year’s theme, ‘Bridging Now to Next’.
A panel of judges will decide on first and second place winners, who will be announced via the City’s social media throughout National Reconciliation Week.
The Geraldton Regional Library will also be showcasing a unique poetry display from local author Nola Gregory from Wednesday 21 May - Wednesday 4 June.
A calendar of community events as part of National Reconciliation Week can be found on the City’s website.
The National Reconciliation Week events fall under the Community pillar of the City’s Strategic Community Plan and reflects the organisation’s commitment to recognising and celebrating culture and heritage.
