With any mode of wheels welcome – you can ride your bike, bring along your scooter, walk with a pram or even dig out those 80’s roller skates – and of course a helmet!

City of Greater Geraldton Deputy Mayor Natasha Colliver is thrilled to announce the first event of its kind in Geraldton and is encouraging the community to join!

“This event is a fabulous way to not only celebrate all the amazing women in our life – but to also shine a light on active travel and transport in our community,” she said.

“I’m encouraging our local women to get their friends together, encourage work colleagues or round up your families to come on down and take part – and of course wearing your most glamorous outfits!

“As well as celebrating International Women’s Day, the event is not just for women, anyone in the community is invited to come along and enjoy our beautiful coastline while enjoying a fun morning of being active!”

The event is also a commemoration of International Women’s Day, which is held each year on March 8 celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all around the world.

Women on Wheels Geraldton will take place on Sunday 10 March at 10am.

The 10km route will begin from the shaded area between the Geraldton Yacht Club and Regional Sounds on the Foreshore, and take participants on a leisurely journey along the Foreshore, Marina, Beresford Foreshore to St George’s beach and back again.

Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace and to stop for breaks and selfies along the way, and are encouraged to use the hashtag #womenonwheelsgeraldton and tag the City in any photos or videos on social media.

On return to the Geraldton Foreshore – there will be free delicious cakes and coffee from local providers.
