If you know a local volunteer or volunteer group who make a positive contribution to our community, now is the time to recognise them as nominations are open for the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Awards.

The joint initiative between the City of Greater Geraldton and Centacare Family Services celebrates and acknowledges outstanding volunteers, volunteer managers, volunteer-involving organisations and volunteer-involving events within the community.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn is encouraging the community to make a nomination.

“Volunteers dedicate so much of their time to many great events, initiatives and community groups that add such value to our city," he said.

“These awards are all about recognising those volunteers and thanking them for all the hard work they do in our community.

"There are so many deserving volunteers so I hope our community takes a moment to make a nomination.”

The Awards have five categories: Volunteer of the Year, Youth Volunteer of the Year (under 18 years). Volunteer Manager of the Year, Volunteer Involving Organisation of the Year and Volunteer- Involving Event of the Year.

Nominations close 5pm Friday 15 November 2019.

More information and nomination forms can be found on the Centacare website.

All nominees will be invited to attend the Volunteer of the Year Award Ceremony on Thursday 5 December at the Queens Park Theatre Amphitheatre.
