A brand new fire truck will aid volunteers of the Moonyoonooka Bush Fire Brigade to help keep the community safe.

The new $500,000 3.4U fire truck built by Frontline Fire & Rescue Equipment, was supplied to the City of Greater Geraldton by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) under the Emergency Services Levy – Local Government Grant Scheme.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said it was great to see local volunteers get a much needed fleet upgrade.

“It’s crucial that our volunteers have all the necessary resources when it comes to an emergency such as a bush fire,” he said.

“Our local bush fire brigade volunteers do so much to protect our local community so it’s great to see this new piece of equipment go to the hard working volunteers in Moonyoonooka.”

The new vehicle replaced the 3.4U truck that faithfully served the brigade for many years and was due for replacement.

The brand new 3000 litre, 4WD vehicle will now be utilised by 31 volunteers for fire management in Moonyoonooka and the surrounding areas.

If you’d like to join a local volunteer bush fire brigade, head to the City’s website and fill out a volunteer form.
