Four local businesses have been recognised for their commitment to food safety with a five star rating in the City of Greater Geraldton’s 2018 Food Safety Awards.

The rating system ranks business from three to five stars based on a strict hygiene criteria that has seen those exceeding food safety standards awarded with five out of five stars.

Those with the highest scores have been crowned the 2018 Five Star Food Safety winners.

Sania’s Kitchen took out the Restaurant Category while Sail Inn won the Take Away Category, Rangeway Primary School secured the School Canteen Category, and Goodstart Early Learning won the Child Care Category.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn applauded the winners for their dedication to ensuring they provide a high standard of safe food.

"In order to receive five stars, a strict criteria needs to be met and maintained and these businesses have shown that they are willing and able to exceed these expectations,” he said.

“It’s wonderful to be able to recognise these hard working businesses for their efforts with the Food Safety Awards.”

Customers should note that businesses are now able to display stickers advertising their official 2018 star rating.
