Marine Terrace Streetlight Pole Replacement Project

Fifteen streetlights along Marine Terrace located between Durlacher Street and Cathedral Avenue have reached their end of life and are being replaced with works commencing Monday 25 May 2026.

To minimise disruption the project will be conducted over four stages with works expected to be completed by Friday 26 June 2026.

Why are the streetlights being replaced?

Following a condition assessments undertaken in late 2025 ,15 of the streetlight poles were found to have reached their end of life. To ensure community safety, the decision was made to replace the streetlight poles and new ones were ordered and recently delivered to the City. These works will improve the safety, reliability, and performance of streetlighting along Marine Terrace.

Which streetlights are being replaced?

15 street light poles located on Marine Terrace between Durlacher Street and Cathedral Avenue are being replaced. The works will be undertaking in the following four zones:

Will the works involve any road closures or impact pedestrian access?

No, Marine Terrace will remain open to vehicle traffic during the works. However, to ensure community safety, within active work zones will be temporarily unavailable, and this will shift along the street as the works progress day by day.

What time of day will crews be working?

 7am till 4 pm Monday - Friday.

How much is the project expected to cost?

The City has allocated $225,000 to undertake the works.

How is the project being funded?

This project is 100% funded by the City under the asset renewals program.

Have the businesses been notified of the works?

Yes, City officers has contacted all businesses within the works area. Community Service Announcements will also be distributed to the broader community regarding the works and the temporary parking restrictions.

What happens to the old streetlights?

The street light poles will be sent for recycling.
