Shared Path - Sail Boulevard to Corallina Quays

Background

In 2017, the City surveyed the cycling community to gather information on who they were and what their wants and needs are in regards to cycling in the City region.

The resulting Cycling in the City of Greater Geraldton Survey Report was used to inform the development of the Geraldton 2050 Cycling Strategy which was endorsred by Council in 2018.

The top priority project identified by the community in the survey was to construct an off road shared path between Sunset Beach and Drummond Cove.

The Cycling Strategy identified this same stretch of road as a key opportunity to enhance and extend some of the City's most popular cycling routes. The top priority in the strategy to develop the primary cycling network is to investigate the development of a high-quality a cycling connection between Sunset Beach and Drummond Cove.  With the assistance of grant funding from the Department of Transport, the City undertook a Feasibility Study for a 3.4km long shared path along Chapman Road between Corallina Quays in Sunset Beach and Glenfield Beach Drive in Drummond Cove. The area between Sail Boulevard and Corallina Quays was not included as at the City was already in the planning stages for an off road shared path between Sail Boulevard and Corallina Quays.
