Spalding Park Pathway

In May 2016, the City completed formalising the existing gravel trail that began at the entrance to Spalding Park and led to the footbridge on the south side of the river at the North West Coastal Highway. The shared pathway continued on the north side of the bridge ending at the Chapman Valley Road Roundabout.

Spalding Park is a popular destination for families. It is also the intersecting point of two walk trails. One that follows along the banks of the east-west flowing Chapman River and the other that links the locality of Sunset Beach on the north side of the river to Bluff Point Locality on the south side via a footbridge on the west side of the North West Coastal Highway.

The 850m long and 2.5m wide asphalt pathways improves community safety, promotes healthier lifestyles and provides a much needed connection to the existing path network.

The $180,000 project, which was identified by the community during the Sunset Beach Precinct Planning workshops, was 50% funded by a Regional Bicycle Network grant from the Department of Transport with the City contributing the remainder.
