Meet some of our people below, who will let you know a little about what they do and how they contribute to their community.
Mullewa Coordinator Community & Cultural Development
Environmental Health Officer
Senior Statutory Planner
Administration Officer: Emily Mace
The main focus of my role is to provide support to the Environmental Health Officers and the Sustainability team. This includes maintaining databases and registers, receiving and entering complaints into the customer service database, preparing monthly reports and statistical data and assisting with purchase requisitions. I work with a fantastic team of people which has made my transition to a new state a lot easier.
Airport Coordinator: Leonie Richards
The operations at the Geraldton Airport require Federal and State legislative compliance covering security and safety. My role involves assisting the Airport Manager and coordinating the Airport Team to ensure compliance and day to day functionality of the Airport facilities. I also manage and monitor the Airport finances, liaise with over 40 airport tenants and oversee security screening, apron movements, car parking, contractors and building maintenance. Dull or boring does not exist in my role at the Airport, it is like no other place I have worked, it is exciting, stimulating, challenging and extremely rewarding knowing that you have contributed to providing a safe and friendly airport facility for all users.
Draftsperson: Vaughn Harvey
The main focus of my role is to provide drawing plans for road, drainage and other areas of Public Works. I also provide advice and standard methods of practice to the public and staff, which can then be implemented on the job site. I maintain the Standards and Traffic Counter database. We prefer to “design the problems out’ before they hit the ground.
Mullewa Coordinator Community & Cultural Development: Jane Parker
My role is based in Mullewa where I have lived for the past 12 years. I enjoy my role as the duties are broad and diverse covering all aspects of Local Government including customer service, building maintenance, staff supervision, etc and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office. The most enjoyable part of my role is community event management, including Australia Day and Mullewa Muster & Rodeo. I also provide support to local community groups and community projects, liaising with stakeholders, sponsors and community members.
Environmental Health Officer: Jason Reid
My role is diverse and interesting. The main focus is largely centred on communicating with the local community to provide support and education as well as to minimize health risks and maintain a safe environment. A typical day may involve food business inspections, water sampling, resolving noise complaints, investigating environmental pollution and monitoring housing standards.
Senior Statutory Planner: Serena Schewtschenko
I assist with the coordination of the City’s statutory town planning area and implement the City’s town planning objectives through the processing of applications including, buildings, land uses & subdivisions. My role also deals with enquiries relating to heritage, zoning, subdivision and the development and use of land, whilst also providing additional town planning advice and expertise to external customers, the Town Planning Services Team, and all other departments within the City. The best part of my role is the variety; no two days are ever the same.
