Mid West Sports Tourism Project

The Mid West Sports Tourism Project involves the collection of economic impact data from sporting events in the Mid-West region of Western Australia, over a 12 month period to provide a clear understanding of the current Mid West sports tourism landscape and develop a strategic sport tourism plan.

How it works

Each participant or spectator that has visited the Mid West for a sporting event will be eligible to complete the short, online survey and enter the prize draw. The Mid West Sports Federation will be working with each event organiser to establish the best method for data collection during their events.

This may involve a combination of:

• MWSF: On-site data collection by our friendly team during your event
• Event organiser: Distribute flyer during event and promote completion of survey on own devices
• Event organiser: Email registered participants with the survey link for completion and promote the link via our Facebook page, website and other channels.

At the end of the year, independent contractors will release a final comprehensive report with all of the findings, on behalf of the Mid West Sports Federation. This information will be GOLD for our Mid West sports and will assist them leverage support for their events, including funding, sponsorship and resources.

Can you help?

The involvement of Mid West sporting groups, local government and event organisers is critical to the success of this project.

To ensure the accuracy of the results, information from all Mid West events will need to be captured over a 12-month period, ending 31 December 2018.

Mid West Sports Federation will be reaching out for your help with:

• Compiling a complete list of Mid West sporting groups
• Developing a calendar of sporting events that will be held in the Mid West during 2018
• Data collection during sporting events using our simple online survey. This will capture information from visiting participants,
  spectators and event organisers.
