General Waste Collection (Wheelie Bin)
Please observe these requirements to assist with your residential waste collection:
- Bins must be placed on verge prior to 6.00am on your collection day
- Bins will be emptied between 6.00am and 4.00pm on your collection day
- If your bin is not emptied by 4.00pm on your collection day please contact Cleanaway on 08 9938 4000 or email Cleanaway by 10.00am the next business day
- Leave a half metre gap between bins or obstacles
- Do not place rubbish beside or on top of the bin,
- Do not overload the bin (maximum 70kg)
- No paint, chemicals, liquids, car batteries or motor oil - these items can be accepted at Meru Landfill under the Household Hazardous Waste Program
- Remove the bin from the nature strip as soon as possible after collection
- The bins are for domestic waste only such as food scraps and non recyclable items
- Do not put bricks, heavy timber or steel in the bin – these materials can damage the collection equipment and your bins.

New bin or new rubbish collection
If you require a new bin, a new rubbish collection or an additional bin service, please download a copy of the Request for Rubbish Collection Service Form (HW07) from the Online Forms page and return a completed copy to the City of Greater Geraldton. Fees apply.
Going to the Tip
Residents can drop off waste to the Meru Waste Disposal Facility at Landfill Lane, Narngulu. Fees may apply for this service.
Household goods that are still useable can be taken to the Recycling Tip Shop, Meru.
Alternatively, green waste can be composted at home and unwanted goods sold at a garage sale or put up for sale on a variety of ‘buy and sell’ Facebook pages in Geraldton.

The Vergeside Skip Bin Program is now closed, and we are unable to accept any further applications. We apologise for the inconvenience.
Household Hazardous Waste Program
Harmful pesticides and chemicals should not be placed in your bin. Residents can dispose of unwanted paint, pesticides, other household chemicals and batteries safely in the designated Household Hazardous Waste area at the Meru Waste Disposal Facility.

Note that this service is only for household items and these will be recycled wherever possible. For the disposal of commercial volumes of such items, contact a waste disposal company who should be able to assist.
