Community groups in the Midwest have received a financial helping hand following the latest round of the City of Greater Geraldton’s Community Grants Program.

Close to $90,000 has been awarded that will help groups expand their services, coordinate public events, build new facilities and more.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the initiative helped community groups in a number of ways.

“The Community Grants Program is a rewarding process because we get to throw our support behind groups that give back to our community and help make their project a reality,” he said.

“Congratulations to all 11 recipients of Round 21 who have secured $89,188 collectively in funding.

“If your community group is looking to take the next step but needs help financially make sure you get involved in the Community Grants Program, which has helped community outlets all over Greater Geraldton.”

St John Ambulance Western Australia Mullewa Sub Centre, Waggrakine Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade & Cadet Unit, Geraldton Bowling Club, Mission to Seafarers Geraldton and Bundiyarra Aboriginal Community Aboriginal Corporation all received a financial boost in the latest round.

Funding was also awarded to the Community Group of Greenough, Lions Club of Geraldton, Short Term Accommodation for Youth and Sun City Christian Centre.
