Rock’s building makes a splash

An iconic building in Marine Terrace has made quite the statement following a transformation that showcases our brilliant marine life.

Those passing through the shopping strip will see the Rock’s building now has vibrant window signage with photos from under the sea including playful sea lions, coral trout and perfect waves.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the window decals made quite the impact.

“Marine Terrace has received a good dose of vibrancy with the Rock’s building now featuring colourful photos from the ocean,” he said.

“It’s all part of creating vibrancy in our CBD and increasing tourist attractions which falls perfectly into our City Centre Revitalisation Plan.

“We have already seen a number of people engaging with the building by looking through the cut out goggles at the swimming mannequins as well as taking photos with family and friends.”

The window signage is a temporary installation, with the building being converted into a walkway later this year.

“The City is always looking at new and innovative ways to redefine our city centre and we would love for local businesses to follow suit and make their mark on our CBD,” Mayor Van Styn added.

“We know how much our community loves street art especially interactive pieces such as the butterfly wings in West End.”

The City purchased the Rock’s building and land last year to transform it into a walkway to create a vital link between the retail strip and the Foreshore. Works to gut the building will take place later this year.
