Reconciliation Action Plan community workshop

If you have an interest in reconciliation and how the City can progress the development and delivery of a meaningful Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) you can have your say at a community workshop being held on Tuesday 29 June 2021.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the current review of the City’s RAP is about finding ways to unify our community where Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community members are stronger together.

“When the City talks about reconciliation it is talking about acknowledging our shared history and building strong partnerships where we collectively develop creative and innovative ways to walk side-by-side, respecting our culturally different ways of thinking, being and doing,” he said.

“To ensure our new RAP will help us achieve this goal we need to understand all the perspectives to be included in the development and delivery of a meaningful plan.”

Members of the community interested in sharing their thoughts and ideas on the RAP are invited to attend the community workshop facilitated by Danny Ford from Kambarang Services.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday 29 June 2021 from 9.30am-12.30pm at the Geraldton Streetwork Aboriginal Corporation located on Eastward Road.  Morning tea will be provided. Please RSVP your attendance before Wednesday 24 June 2021 to courtneyw@cgg.wa.gov.au or PeterT2@cgg.wa.gov.au
