A fresh approach to community engagement at the Queens Park Theatre (QPT) has been made possible thanks to vital funding from the State Government – allowing them to reach new audiences and expand programming.

A total of $80,000 has been awarded through the “In the House” initiative, which will be used to support a project entitled “Something for you.”

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn is thrilled by the news.

“Through this funding we will be able to increase community awareness around performances as well as put more energy into attracting new audiences and highlighting that the venue has something for everyone,” he said.

“In the New Year the public can look forward to a variety of artist residencies through workshops, community conversations, storytelling and exhibitions.

“Thank you to the State Government for investing in our community by supporting the QPT.”

Member for Geraldton Lara Dalton MLA presented the grant on behalf of the State Government and was excited about how the funds would be utilised.

"Geraldton audiences will be wowed by a new program of varied performances and opportunities for engagement at the Queens Park Theatre." she said.

"As part of the Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program, this funding will increase local engagement and create opportunities for tourism and jobs."

More information about upcoming shows and workshops will be made available via the QPT’s website and Facebook in the coming weeks.
