Entertainment at the Queens Park Theatre (QPT) will continue to be bigger and better thanks to grant funding from Lotterywest.
A total of $70,000 in Lotterywest funding was presented to the QPT for ticket subsidies and program costs for the Theatre’s 2019/20 Performing Arts Program.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said Lotterywest grants had assisted the QPT for nearly 30 years.
“Since 1990, Lotterywest has continued to support the QPT to deliver a plethora of culturally diverse shows to the community,” he said.
“Grant funding enables the City to subsidise ticket prices for shows which enables residents to have access to a range of concerts and performances which offer stimulation, entertainment, education and enriching experiences.
“The Theatre has continued to run a successful annual program year after year with a total of 39 grants valued at over $1.3 from Lotterywest and we can’t thank them enough for this massive contribution to entertainment and the arts in our community.”
Member for the Agricultural Region Laurie Graham MLC presented the grant money and said the QPT was a magnificent local facility.
“It’s wonderful to see that this long standing collaboration between the Queens Park Theatre and Lotterywest is ongoing,” he said.
“School students and pensioners have benefitted from this funding for decades.
“I’m glad to see that subsidised tickets and special programming will continue to feature so more people can enjoy it.”
The QPT offers a number of different community programs such as Morning Melodies for seniors and a range of different shows aimed at school groups.
