For the second year running, the Queens Park Theatre (QPT) has been recognised for its excellence after being named a finalist for a prestigious national accolade.
The QPT is in the running for Performing Arts Connections’ (PAC) Australia Drover Award for ‘Performing Arts Centre of the Year’.
Recognising excellence in the field of regional touring - the awards acknowledge companies that are committed to delivering performances to audiences across Australia.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the QPT’s commitment to high-quality entertainment was continuing to flourish.
“The QPT has really cemented itself as a leader in the arts and entertainment in the Midwest and around the state,” he said.
“With the help and support of CircuitWest and PAC in recent years, the QPT’s renewed commitment and focus to deliver top quality content to the community is unwavering.
“We have a very dedicated in-house team at the QPT who are steering these amazing outcomes and we hope this year we can go one better and take out the award.”
QPT is one of four finalists, and will go up against Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre, Merrigong Theatre Company The Art House Wyong.
PAC Australia’s Drovers Awards recognise not only the operational commitment required, but also the artistic determination to ensure that regional audiences have the opportunity to experience the calibre of work available to capital city audiences.
PAC Australia is the national peak body representing and supporting performing arts presenters.
The winners will be announced at PAC’s 16th annual Drovers Awards ceremony on Thursday 29 August at the PAC Australia's REAP: More. Deeper. Different. conference dinner, on the Sunshine Coast.
