Picture Caption: A Multicultural Concert is just one of the exciting activities planned as part of Seniors Week 2021.
An action packed program of activities will celebrate our wonderful local seniors as the ever-popular Seniors Week returns in 2021.
Back with all the favourites - music, food, sport, cinema, craft and so much more will be on offer from Friday 5 November through to Sunday 14 November.
With bookings for the activities opening on Monday 25 October, seniors are urged to get in early and secure their spots.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the event was all about acknowledging the invaluable contribution seniors make to the local community.
“It’s important to celebrate our seniors and all the wonderful things they do in our community,” he said.
“We were unable to celebrate this important event last year so I am over the moon to see it back this year and with another diverse and great line-up of activities.
“I’d like to extend a big thank you to the Geraldton Seniors Week Committee and staff at the QEII Centre for their hard work in organising this as well as the local businesses and community groups who are supporting the event.”
Kick starting with two great events at the Queens Park Theatre (QPT), Friends of the QPT will host a Seniors Film on Friday 5 November – showing “Then Came You”.
On Monday 8 November, the QPT will be shakin’ as Morning Melodies presents the ‘Australian Blues Brothers Seniors Week Concert’.
The week will then offer all sorts of activities from workshops, afternoon and morning teas, have-a-go sessions and much more.
The much loved Mayor’s Mystery Bus Tour will also return and is a great way to get out and see the latest and greatest happening in Geraldton.
Seniors Week will conclude with a Multicultural Concert hosted by our friends at the Midwest Multicultural Association.
Tickets are just $5 and you’ll be transported to at least eight different countries – all in one afternoon.
There will be music, dance and lots of cultural culinary delights!
Seniors are encouraged to make bookings as available spots don’t last long.
Bookings for the activities officially open on Monday 25 October from 8:30am and can be made at the QEII Seniors and Community Centre on Durlacher Street or by calling 9956 6636.
