Amateur and established photographers will have the opportunity to feature their images of the region in a new calendar coordinated by the Geraldton Visitor Centre.

The Visit Geraldton 2020 Calendar aims to show off the region and all the beauty that it holds such as the Abrolhos Islands, Hutt Lagoon, Mullewa, Greenough, Geraldton Foreshore and the West End of Marine Terrace just to name a few.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said he had seen some amazing photos of the region online.

“Our Visit Geraldton social media channels constantly get sent and tagged in amazing photos of the region and we want those contributors to get involved in our latest opportunity,” he said.

“Get creative with your submissions and make your mark on a month – it could be sunset at the Leaning Tree in Greenough, windsurfers taking to Point Moore or some of the marine life at the Abrolhos Islands.

“Not only could your work end up in our Visit Geraldton 2020 Calendar, you could also win some major prizes thanks to the support of Karl Monaghan Photography and Leon Bakers Jewellers.”

Submissions will be assessed and judged by the staff at the Geraldton Visitor Centre as well as local photographer Karl Monaghan.

A total of 12 images will be shortlisted for the calendar and an overall winner will be selected who will secure the cover, a month and a framed print of the image worth $500 from Karl Monaghan Photography.

The runner up will be awarded with a silver and gold Point Moore Lighthouse pendant with an Abrolhos Pearl and rubies valued at $660 from Leon Bakers Jewellers in addition to a month in the calendar.

Entries close on Monday 15 July at 4pm and submissions can be made by emailing gvcmembers@cgg.wa.gov.au
