There are many quiet achievers that make our community a great place to live and now is the time to recognise their efforts through the Australia Day Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

No deed is too big or small for the Awards said City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn.

“We have many local legends who go about their business seeking no acknowledgement or reward,” he said.

“From the people who are out picking up rubbish every weekend to those who are raising funds for those in need.

“Now is the time to thank them for their efforts and all that they do in our community. It only takes a few minutes to nominate and could change someone’s life.”

Winners will be announced during Australia Day celebrations on Tuesday 26 January 2021.

Nominations are accepted for those who live in both Geraldton and Mullewa, and are open across the following categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Community Citizen of the Year Youth - 25 and under
  • Community Citizen of the Year Senior - 65 and over
  • Active Citizenship Award (for a Community Group or Event)
  • City of Greater Geraldton Young Achiever of the Year - 18 and under

A panel of judges will review the nominations against selection criteria that demonstrates the nominee’s active citizenship.

Nominations close on Monday 7 December 2020.
