Do you know someone in our community that is constantly giving back? The Australia Day WA Community Citizen of the Year Awards recognise local icons and you can now nominate an individual or group for an award.
The Awards celebrate outstanding service in our community and locals are urged to acknowledge those who have made a positive contribution.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged the community to get behind the initiative and nominate.
“It is important that we recognise and celebrate our everyday heroes, as they contribute to the advancement and wellbeing of our community,” he said.
“Nominating an individual or organisation is an easy process, which can be completed online in a few minutes.
“We’re also giving away an iPad to encourage members of the community to nominate.”
For every submission, the person nominating will go into the draw to win a new iPad. To be in the running, the public must nominate someone by the end of October and a winner will be notified on Monday 5 November.
The Awards have five categories: Community Citizen of the Year, Community Citizen of the Year Youth – 26 and under, Community Citizen of the Year Senior – 55 and over, Active Citizenship Group or Event and City of Greater Geraldton Young Achiever of the Year – 18 and under.
Nominations close on Wednesday 31 October and winners will be announced on Australia Day 2019.
