Mullewa and Pindar have welcomed a new state-of-the-art fire truck that will help to protect the community from bush fires next summer and beyond.

The replacement fire truck was approved in the 2020/21 budget, however, the build of the vehicle was delayed due to COVID-19 and it has just recently arrived.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn is impressed with the new fire truck.

“This vehicle destined for the Mullewa-Pindar area has all the bells and whistles, and is sure to help keep the community safe in the drier months when bush fires usually spark,” he said.

“It’s certainly taken awhile for it to arrive, and we’re glad to add it to our fleet and increase emergency management resources in the region.

“Our local bush fire brigade volunteers work extremely hard to keep everyone safe and no doubt this new asset will make life easier in the event of an emergency.”

The new $470,000 fire truck built by Frontline Fire & Rescue Equipment was supplied to the City by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services under the Emergency Services Levy – Local Government Grant Scheme.

It will be joining the Mullewa-South Bush Fire Brigade in the coming weeks.
