Mullewa will be alive with celebrations this weekend as the Agriculture Show and Outback Bloom Wildflower Festival returns for another stellar year.

Now in its 86th year, the Mullewa Agriculture Show makes for a great day out and the opportunity to enjoy a quick shear competition, baby animals, pop-up markets, exhibits, fireworks and side show alley.

A medley of native flowers will also be at the Mullewa Town Hall as part of the Outback Bloom Wildflower Festival. The popular event brings all the region’s species under one roof and is a must-attend for nature lovers.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said it was a great time to get out and about in the Midwest.

“Our region looks absolutely picturesque this time of year when everything is lush and filled with varying colours from the wildflowers,” he said.

“If you have been planning a road trip this is the perfect weekend to do it and also pop into the iconic Mullewa Ag Show, which always has so much going on.

“And if you don’t have a great deal of time to see all of the beautiful wildflowers, Outback Bloom Wildflower Festival is for you because it brings all of the species together for your enjoyment.”

The Mullewa Agriculture Show goes from 9am to 9pm on Saturday 31 August and is held at the Mullewa Recreation Centre. Tickets vary from $10 - $15 and can be purchased at the event.

Celebrations for the Outback Bloom Wildflower Festival kick off on Wednesday 28 August with the official launch at 5.30pm at the Lesser Hall on Maitland Road. Entry varies from $3 - $5. The festival concludes on Sunday 1 September with the BBQ Breakfast and Elder Yarns at the Mullewa Caravan Park.
