Progress Midwest is calling on the State Government, our sitting member Ian Blayney MLA and the Opposition Leaders for a commitment to key game changing priorities for the Midwest region by launching its 2021 State Election Priorities document.
More than $600 million in investment is being sought for nine key initiatives in the Midwest identified as critical to grow jobs and the local economy.
The document outlines the shared vision of key regional stakeholders, developed through consultation with local businesses and the community, underpinned by the Geraldton Jobs and Growth Plan 2021 – 2023.
Progress Midwest is made up of key stakeholders including the City of Greater Geraldton, Mid West Ports, Pollinators Inc, Mid West Development Commission, Regional Development Australia Midwest Gascoyne, Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Master Builders Association Midwest and Northwest, Midwest Horticulture Growers Group, Tourism Geraldton and Geraldton Universities Centre.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor, and Progress Midwest Chair Shane Van Styn said the identified key priorities were game changers for the region.
“This document is the collective shared vision of the key stakeholders in the Midwest and demonstrates that we are unified in lobbying for what our community needs,” he said.
“The funding of these projects, will give the region much needed infrastructure such as a fully redeveloped hospital, and will inject millions into our economy and stimulate employment.
The key priorities outline in the document are:
- Geraldton Hospital Full Redevelopment
- Houtman Abrolhos Islands Stage 2
- Geraldton High Speed Vessel Jetties
- Redevelopment of the WA Museum Geraldton Site
- Geraldton CBD Headworks Infrastructure Fund
- Mid West Innovation and Business Enterprise Hub
- Critical Roads Projects
- Geraldton Port Development Proposals
- Geraldton Water Access (Desalination) for Industry (Horticulture) Growth
