If you’d like to have a say in the future of the City of Greater Geraldton, make sure you’re enrolled to vote in the upcoming election!
With the Local Government Election right around the corner, residents and ratepayers are reminded to head to the WA Electoral Commission (WAEC) website, to check their enrolment.
Electors on the state electoral roll are automatically able to vote in the local government district.
City of Greater Geraldton CEO Ross McKim said it was important for the local community to vote in the election to ensure they felt confident Council would represent their needs.
“Our community is very passionate and vocal when it comes to topical issues and the best way to ensure their voice is heard at Council is through our Councillors,” he said.
“Council makes big decisions for our community from providing significant services through to community infrastructure and our Councillors are the voice of the people.
“A strong Council forms the foundation of an effective and efficient Local Government and I urge residents and ratepayers to assess the candidates and vote in this year’s election.”
The local government election will take place on Saturday 19 October 2019.
Those wishing to enrol on a local government’s owners and occupiers roll must check their eligibility with the local government in question and complete the enrolment form available from the Council office or the City of Greater Geraldton’s website.
To enrol on the state electoral roll, you can collect a form from the WAEC, an AEC office or a post office and return it to the Commission or download a PDF version of the form and return it to the Commission.
To check your enrolment head to www.waec.wa.gov.au before 5pm on Friday 30 August 2019.
