In this together for National Reconciliation Week

Embracing the theme of ‘In This Together’, National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Kick starting on Wednesday 27 May and running through to Wednesday 3 June 2020, the dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey — the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the milestone was one for the community to commemorate.

“In the past we would celebrate this occasion with a dedicated event, however given the current restrictions – that can’t take place so I am urging our community members to still take the time to signify this event,” he said.

“We will be sharing some different resources on our social media channels throughout the next week.

“Celebrating our unique culture is so important and it’s up to us to keep this occasion alive and going.”
