Horizon to bounce back

Geraldton’s beloved public art piece Horizon is set to roll back into place on Beresford Foreshore before the end of the year.

After suffering a structural failure last year, Council voted to replace the popular artwork and install CCTV to monitor the area.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn welcomed the news.

Horizon was a fantastic drawcard for visitors and greatly enjoyed by locals,” he said.

“At dusk on any given evening, there would be an array of people drawn to the Beresford Foreshore to snap a photo and enjoy this unique feature of Geraldton.

“We look forward to the return of Horizon and the addition of the CCTV to the area, which will not only enhance public safety but also discourage vandalism.”

Horizon by award-winning artist Lucy Humphrey will be the same dimensions as its predecessor and be installed once the new CCTV is in place.

The much-loved piece is expected to once again add vibrancy and positive activation to the Beresford Foreshore.

More details as to when the new artwork is to be installed will be released in the coming months.
