If you have a disability or know someone with a disability then you won’t want to miss your chance to have your say on the City of Greater Geraldton’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).

The DAIP, which outlines ways the City will ensure people with disability have equal access to its facilities and services, is currently under review.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said that improving access and inclusion is a Council priority.

“Every year the City undertakes many projects to improve universal access and inclusion,” he said.

“These include building refurbishments, footpath construction or renewals, ACROD parking bay and toilet block installations and we’ve also updated our website so it is more accessible to people with disability.

“We know there is still much more to be done but we need input from people with disability, their families, friends and carers, disability service providers and community groups to tell us what their concerns are and how they can be addressed so improvements can be included in future budgets.”

Members of the community are invited to have their say by taking by taking the Community Survey available online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/GeroDAIP  Hard copy surveys are also available at the City Civic Centre, Geraldton Regional Library, Visitor Centre, QEII Centre, Aquarena and Mullewa District Office. Everyone who completes the survey before it closes on Sunday 24 February 2019 at midnight will be eligible to win a $200 gift voucher.

A Community Workshop will also be held on Thursday 7 March 2019 from 3-5pm at the City Civic Centre where the results of this survey will be presented and actions for the DAIP prioritised. Members of the community interested in participating in the workshop can RSVP their attendance by calling 9956 6945 or email janellk@cgg.wa.gov.au
