GRAG celebrates new exhibitions

Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) is the place to be this Friday night, with two new exhibitions launching for the public to feast their eyes on.

Systems, signs and descriptions have always held Siné MacPherson’s interest and her exhibition The Wind and the Ocean explores these signifiers with groups of elegant canvases.

Being unveiled on the same night is Sea Sings, Wings Realm, which invites the audience to engage with the potential of print and digital media to capture the fluidity of flight and water. The installation features artworks from prize-winning printmaker Martin King, with Perth-based artists Jo Darvall and Bethwyn Porter.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged those interested in attending opening night to register.

“We’re delighted to host these exhibitions and to provide an outlet for those in the Midwest to view significant WA exhibitions,” he said.

“GRAG’s opening nights are always fully booked and I imagine this Friday night will be no different given how many art lovers and creatives we have locally. But the whole community is welcome to attend these regular events.”

Both exhibitions will launch this Friday 12 March at 6pm and free tickets can be acquired by clicking here. RSVP is essential due to COVID-19 requirements.

An artist talk will take place the following day on Saturday 13 March with Siné MacPherson, Jo Darvall and Bethwyn Porter from 1pm at GRAG. This is also free for the public to attend.

The Wind and the Ocean and Sea Sings, Wings Realm will be on showcase at GRAG until Sunday 18 April.
