Geraldton has been named a finalist in the 2022 GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards and the City of Greater Geraldton is urging locals and travellers to vote for the seaside city.
Those who vote for their favourite destination have a chance to win a $5,000 WA travel or $550 cash to spend at any RACWA Park or Resort.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged the public to get behind Geraldton.
“We have some great competition and are calling on everyone who’s visited, planning a trip or lives here to help us claim the title of Top Tourism Town for 2022,” he said.
“Geraldton has the best of coastal city living – we’ve got a vibrant CBD, exciting local operators, breathtaking natural assets, near perfect weather year round, world-class events and a welcoming community.
“More and more people are stopping in Geraldton as opposed to passing through, and this title would assist us in getting more folk to experience the beauty of our area.”
Voting closes on Tuesday 24 May and the winner will be announced at the 2022 Perth Airport WA Tourism Conference on Wednesday 22 June.
With borders opening and a sense of normality returning to the travel market, the City has stepped up its tourism marketing efforts with a new “Greater Escape” campaign that entices those in the Perth and South-West markets to travel north for their next holiday.
The campaign includes a collaboration with independent digital agency Perth Is OK! to promote Geraldton’s family-friendly activities, top 10 things to see and do as well as hospitality scene.
Those in Perth will also see imagery of the Midwest on buses, billboards and train stations in the CBD from March to June 2022.
This is all part of the City’s efforts to market Greater Geraldton and claim gold in the 2022 GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards.
