Geraldton Airport will embrace Airport Safety Week with a number of different educational themes and topics as part of the campaign.

Running from Monday 14 October to Friday 18 October, the safety campaign is specifically tailored to engage with employees and contractors working on an aerodrome.

The project aims to enhance and add to the safety conversation by encouraging all staff and contractors working on an aerodrome to consider their obligations to provide a safe environment for all airport users.

City of Greater Geraldton Chief Executive Officer Ross McKim said it was great to see the Airport staff embrace and encourage safety.

“It’s extremely important that all airport staff and contractors adhere to utmost safety standards and it’s great to see our Airport crew being proactive and creating awareness,” he said.

“There are a lot of rules and regulations that need to be upheld at an Airport and it’s important that safety is in the spotlight.”

As part of Airport Safety Week, a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk will take place on Wednesday 16 October.

The event gives the community the chance to get up close and personal with the newly completed Airport upgrade with a short walk along the runway, followed by afternoon tea.

Places are limited but you can secure them by emailing admin@geraldtonairport.com.au

As well as FOD, other themes focused on this week include human factors in safety, promoting a safety culture, wellness in the workplace and safety management systems.
