Tourism in Geraldton continues to soar after being named a finalist in the 2019 GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards.

Geraldton will go up against Dunsborough, Exmouth, Karratha, Margaret River, Esperance plus a variety of other holiday destinations in the state.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged the public to get behind Geraldton and vote.

“We are ecstatic to be named a finalist in the Top Tourism Town Awards and hope the public are as pumped as we are and vote,” he said.

“Geraldton has the qualities to take out the title and I’m confident we can do it but we need everyone’s help.

“Head on over to Visit Geraldton’s Facebook page and help spread the word about how awesome Geraldton is.”

Voting closes on Sunday 25 August and those who partake go in the running to win a $5,000 travel voucher or a $500 voucher to spend at any RAC Park or Resort in the state.

Whilst voting does play a big part in the process, a group of judges will also review each destination’s submission which included an editorial article, visitor itinerary and video.

Finalists will be shortlisted at the end of this month with the winner being announced at the WA Regional Tourism Conference Dinner in Karratha on Tuesday 17 September.
