Funding extends youth initiative

Renowned youth support initiative the U-Turn Project will continue for another two years following a massive contribution from the State Government.

The City of Greater Geraldton were successful in securing $163,895 from the Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program, which will help provide youth support in the areas of social and emotional wellbeing, life skills and safer communities.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn thanked the Department of Justice who administer the program.

“This is absolutely massive for our organisation and community, who have been doing a wealth of work to support our youth,” he said.

“The City has a small yet highly-effective youth team and this funding will help them to continue delivering impactful services throughout the region.

“Thank you to Attorney General Hon John Quigley MLA and the State Government for backing us yet again.”

A total of 13 Local Governments and not-for-profit groups had successful applications and will share $2.13 million in funding.

The School Holiday Program, Demolition Derby, Midnight Basketball, Back to Country camps, Urban Art Murals as well as the Hip Hop Dance Program are just some of the initiatives delivered by the U-Turn Project.
