A sneak peek at the Community Voice Survey submissions has revealed the Foreshore, events and the tidiness of the city to be the current top three things the community likes most about the City.

Launched less than a month ago, the Community Voice Survey has already received hundreds of responses from residents keen to share their opinions about the services and facilities the City provides.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said these early responses are very encouraging.

“It’s fantastic to hear how much the community values the time and energy staff put into developing community facilities and in keeping the City looking neat and tidy,” he said.

“It’s also very reassuring to see events in the top three as they not only celebrate who we are as a community, the thousands visitors who attend them throughout the year provide an important economic boost for local businesses.”

Early responses regarding the top priorities for City and Council for the next three years include recycling and waste management, investing in the suburbs, promoting the City as a place to live, work and visit, climate change and economic development.

All residents who think services and facilities the City provides are important, is either happy or unhappy with them, or has ideas on what the Council should be doing is invited to take the Community Voice Survey.

“Council not only values your opinions, we really need them to inform a review of our services to ensure they still meet the wants and needs of our community along with their willingness to pay for them,” Mayor Van Styn added.

The Community Voice survey is available online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/voices1 or in hard copy at the City Civic Centre, QEII Centre, Mullewa District Office and Geraldton Regional Library.

Everyone who completes the Survey goes into a draw to win $200. The survey closes early February 2020.
