Entertainment is alive and well in Geraldton this month with the first event on the entertainment calendar kicking off this weekend on the Geraldton Foreshore.

The Drug Aware Fools Festival featuring Thelma Plum, Great Gable, Wooly Mammoth and Rollercoast is set to draw a crowd and it’s not just because of the indie music line-up.

There will be skate demonstrations, a live art battle, boutique stalls, food trucks, yoga, fire twirling as well as presentations from the Frothin’ Fools Gero Grom Fest happening earlier in the day.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the Drug Aware Fools Festival was a must do this weekend.

“This free event officially kicks off our huge month in Geraldton and it’s doing it in style with a smorgasbord of things to see and do,” he said.

“Our Youth team have worked incredibly hard to secure this high quality line-up that I’m sure many locals and visitors will thoroughly enjoy.

“Geraldton’s event scene just keeps getting bigger and better!”

Earlier that morning, surfers will hit the waves of Geraldton’s Back Beach for the Frothin Fools Gero Grom Fest.

Winners will be crowned at the festival alongside the Flippin’ Fools Skate Comp champion, which took place on social media. The online competition required entrants to submit imagery of them skating around Geraldton and the public chose their favourite submission.

The Drug Aware Fools Festival will officially kick off on Saturday 6 April at 2.45pm in Stow Gardens on the Geraldton Foreshore.

It is a drug and alcohol free event that is presented by the City of Greater Geraldton with support from Rio Tinto, Lotterywest and Healthway.
