Local businesses have been praised for their clean kitchens in the City of Greater Geraldton’s 2019 Five Star Food Safety Awards.
FTW Nutrition, Hooks Sea and Salad Bar and McDonalds – Homemaker Centre passed the comprehensive inspection and went above and beyond to win the overall five star category.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn congratulated the businesses for achieving excellence.
“FTW Nutrition, Hooks Sea and Salad Bar and McDonalds – Homemaker Centre should be very proud of their accomplishments as well as their impeccable food safety standards,” he said.
“In order to claim a five star food safety rating each business must meet a strict criteria which our health officers review and evaluate.
“It’s no easy feat, so a big round of applause for these businesses.”
The City’s Five Star Food Safety Awards program has its own rating system which ranks businesses from three to five stars - these address all the requirements of the Food Standards Code plus more.
Customers can identify a company’s score by looking for a sticker advertising their official rating.
A competition will also be running in the coming weeks encouraging members of the public to take a photo of a local food business’ rating sticker and post to the City of Greater Geraldton’s Facebook page for a chance to win $300 cash.
