Community Grants

Tarcoola Tennis Club were recipients of a Community Grant in round 20 to upgrade their lighting.

Local community groups and organisations now have the opportunity to receive a financial helping hand as round 21 of the City of Greater Geraldton’s Community Grants program opens.

As one of the City’s most successful programs, it aims to provide assistance to local groups that make positive contributions to the quality of life within the region.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged local community groups to apply.

“We understand that many local community groups are led by volunteers and run on extremely small, or non-existent budgets,” he said.

“This program gives many projects the financial boost needed to continue to make Geraldton a better place.

“Massive contributions have been made to our city from Community Grants and we look forward to the outcomes from the next round.”

In round 20 announced last year, 12 local community and sporting groups collectively secured $67,592 for various projects.

Successful funding included lighting upgrades to the Tarcoola Park Tennis Club, Bundiyarra workshop upgrades, Sun City Care’s Wangalgu Viability Project and Desert Blue Connect’s Project – Interrupt!

The Community Grants program is offered twice a financial year for one-off events, activities and programs with funding of $2,000 to $20,000 available.

A new online portal has been created which has simplified the application process making it easier for groups to apply for funding through the program.

Round two of the Community Project Support Grant program is also now open which is available up to four times per financial year with funding requests capped at $2,000.

Applications for Community Project Support Grants, for projects starting after 1 May 2019, close 5pm on 26 March and can be submitted here https://cgg.smartygrants.com.au/1819CPSR2
