EOI: Community Metal Art Project

The City of Greater Geraldton is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from scrap metal artists for 'Moonstruck' a community sculpture project located in Mullewa.

Works to be located on the Mullewa Wildflower Walk off Lover's Lane, Mullewa (100km east of Geraldton), an interpretive walk trail that becomes alive with an array of wildflowers in Spring.

The Moonstruck Project aims to support the community by offering an alternative 'wildflower' experience. The already established Wildflower Walk will be come a canvas for sculptural creativity, a certain drawcard for visitors and month of the year.

The successful artist will be required to work closely with the community including students from both local schools.

With the support of the chosen artist, community members of all ages will be encouraged to let their imaginations go wild and turn their favourite wildflower into a ‘wild flower’ design. The term ‘wild flower’ really allows the participant to experiment
with conceptual art and be a little crazy or ‘wild’ as they like in their design.

Participants will learn how to sketch their ‘wild flower’ design, include measurements and ideas on what materials will be suitable for the fabrication stage. A sketch artist will be co-facilitating the concept workshops with the successful applicant of this EOI.

Expressions of Interest for both Scuplture Artists and Design Artists are open from now until 4pm Tuesday 27 March 2018.
