Seniors in Geraldton should pick up a program for next month’s Seniors Week and start planning because there’s a swag of activities on offer!
Kicking off on Saturday 9 November, the week-long celebration is back and features all of the much-loved activities and more, run by the QEII Seniors and Community Centre in conjunction with local organisations.
The Mayor’s Mystery Bus Tour continues in its popularity and seniors can enjoy everything from music, art, history, games and so much more through various have-a-go sessions, demonstrations, exhibitions, afternoon teas and workshops.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn welcomed back Seniors Week for 2019 and said the event was a community favourite.
“Our local seniors make such a huge contribution to the community and Seniors Week is all about celebrating and acknowledging them,” he said.
“There is so much on offer throughout the week and if you’re a senior and haven’t attended before, I can assure you – there is something for everyone.
“A big thank you goes out to the Geraldton Seniors Week Committee and staff at the QEII Centre for pouring so much hard work into organising this as well as the local businesses and community groups who are supporting the initiative.”
Seniors Week begins on Saturday 9 November with the film ‘Overboard’ at the Queens Park Theatre followed by a Multicultural Concert on Sunday 10 November.
There will be card making, poetry and African Drumming workshops along with have-a-go sessions for pole walking, bridge, croquet and outdoor bowls.
An art workshop and art demonstrations will take place at Northgate Shopping Centre and there will be special dance performances in the new Rocks Laneway.
Seniors will be able to bring their memories to life with ‘Write Your Life Story’ and also partake in, ‘Geraldton As I Remember’.
The finale will be a Cliff Richards tribute concert at the Queens Park Theatre on Sunday 17 November.
The Mayor’s Mystery Bus Tour will take place on Monday 11 November and bookings are essential.

The Seniors Week program includes a number of discounts for seniors with a pension card.
