Those in Greater Geraldton are being urged to take part in next week’s Census to ensure population data is accurate and the community is best represented to be eligible for crucial services.

Taking place on Tuesday 10 August 2021, the Census information collected helps inform important services and support for people and communities right around Australia.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said it was absolutely vital for people to play their part in the Census.

“It is extremely important accurate information is collected as these statistics are fundamental when it comes to gaining access to services and funding in the community for things such as health, education, housing, transport and much more,” he said.

“I am urging all community members to do their bit, take part, stand up and be counted.

“It’s absolutely imperative for the progress of our community, so encourage your family and friends – and make sure you get it done.”

The Census counts every person and household in Australia. The data from the 2021 Census will be more important than ever and will provide valuable insights into how the COVID pandemic has changed life in Australia.
