Spalding Park Golf Club received a Community Grant in round 19 last year.

Local community groups are now able to apply for a financial boost as round 20 of the City of Greater Geraldton’s Community Grants Program is open.

Proving to be an invaluable contribution to hundreds of groups since its inception in 2007, many programs, activities and events have received a much need financial boost.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said local groups should look into the Program as it could offer much needed assistance to community groups in need.

“The aim of our Community Grants Program is to provide assistance to local community groups and organisations that make positive contributions to the quality of life within our region,” he said.

“Last year saw fourteen community groups share in $175,000 which made a huge difference for them in the delivery of many great initiatives.

“These grants can really make a difference in our community and we’re happy that we can continue to offer them.”

Groups successful in round 19 of the Community Grants Program included the Geraldton Cemetery, Spalding Park Golf Club, the Mullewa Show, the 2018 Dragon Boat Classic, Quaff Food and Wine Expo, a cultural women’s camp for indigenous girls, Midwest Yamaji’s First Nations Festival and Waitangi Day and the Geraldton Cultural Trust.

The Community Grants Program is offered once per financial year for one-off events, activities and/or programs. Requests for funding are capped at $20,000.

A new online portal has been created which will simplify the application process making it now easier for groups to apply for funding through the Program.

The Community Project Support Grant Program will also be offered this year which is available up to four times per financial year with funding requests capped at $2,000.

Applications are now open for Round 20 of the 2018 – 19 Community Grants Program. Applications close 5pm Tuesday 13 November 2018.

Applications for the 2018-19 Community Project Support Grants will open in the coming weeks.
