Travelling to Perth from Geraldton with Qantas just got a lot more frequent with their announcement to add an extra four weekly return flights.

QantasLink’s additional service will add an additional 800 seats to the already 12 return weekly services, and will commence from mid-August.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn it was a big win for the local economy and thanked Qantas for their ongoing commitment.

“It is extremely important that we have consistent, reliable and frequent flights in and out of Geraldton and Qantas offers exactly that,” he said.

“As a regional capital, we are cementing ourselves as a destination of choice and we need to have options for people to fly in and out of Geraldton.

“The additional flights are a big boost for our tourism and local economy, and also for the local community who access services in Perth daily.”

After Virgin announced that they would decrease their services from Geraldton next month, the demand to boost connectivity was much needed.

QantasLink CEO John Gissing said the additional flights would maintain travel options for the Geraldton community.

“As the national carrier, and the country’s largest regional airline, we know how important reliable air travel is for regional communities like Geraldton,” he said.

“We’ve been in discussions with community leaders for the past few months and understand the impact the reduction in services by our competitor would have had for both residents and business travellers.

“We’re pleased to be able to support demand for travel between Geraldton and Perth and provide customers with better connections to flights to the east coast of Australia.”

The additional services are available to book now. The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the fourth additional service to commence on Sundays from the end of September to coincide with school holidays.
