City Services Update #18: South lockdown

Published on Monday, 1 February 2021 at 9:32:47 AM

Following yesterday’s announcement of a five day lockdown for the Perth metropolitan, Peel and the South West regions, the City of Greater Geraldton is reminding community members to do the right thing.

Residents are reminded to practice good hygiene and social distancing, and continue to use the COVID Safe app or mandatory contact registers at businesses and facilities.

If you have been in Perth at any of the identified hotspots, please do not attend any City facilities and you will be required to get a COVID test as per WA Health Guidelines.

If you have been in Perth in the last week and are attending a City facility – please let City staff know.

At this time, there are no changes to City services or facilities. However the City will continue to monitor the situation and make any necessary changes as directed by the Health Department.

If possible, people are advised to not travel south to Perth, Peel and the South West as you may have to quarantine.

The City wishes to reiterate that there is no need to panic buy, and please respect any restrictions at local shops and supermarkets.

City Health Officers will be attending cafes and restaurants over the coming days to ensure COVID records and plans are up to date and being implemented.

Due to the lockdown in Perth, there may be changes to flight schedules to and from Geraldton. Patrons should contact airlines in regards to updates. If attending the Geraldton Airport, people are reminded facemasks are now mandatory.

The Department of Health are the lead agency for the COVID situation and people are advised to visit their website as a true and accurate source of information.
